Additional Property Attributes

The site consists of nine parcels totaling approximately 1.25 acres addressed as 1001, 1009, 1015, 1017, and 1021 Lucas Ave., and 1000, 1008, 1016, and 1018 Convention Plaza, St. Louis, Missouri. The site currently operates as a parking lot. Based on a review of historical resources, the was developed with residences, various stores, and manufacturing warehouses as early as 1907. The businesses included clothing factories, a hardware store, a paint store, a furniture warehouse, a sewing machine warehouse, printing shops, and two filling stations. The filling station identified on the northeastern portion of the site operated from approximately 1932 until 1958 and the filling station identified on the northwestern portion of the site operated from approximately 1935 until 1958. Due to the time period of operation, the number and status (closed/removed) of potential underground storage tanks associated with the former gas stations is unknown. The potential impact to the site from these unregulated filling stations is considered a Recognized Environmental Condition (REC). A printing shop was identified on the site at 1005 Lucas Ave. from 1939 to 1944. Another printing shop was identified on the site at 704 N 11th St. from 1930 to 1935. These facilities were not identified in the regulatory records. Based on the age and duration of operations and potential for unreported or unauthorized disposal of spent solvents, including the potential to impact soil and groundwater, the historical on-site printers are considered a REC.
