Additional Property Attributes

Former use: unknown but likely commercial or open space. This property, long unused and currently empty land, is located at the center of Shreveport Common Creative Placemaking Revitalization Project in the 800 Block of Texas Ave which is on the National Register of Historic Places and part of the Downtown Arts & Culture District. The site is also directly across the street from Shreveport Common Park, a former Brownfield site that is now a significant community amenity. The remaining buildings on the block are circa 1910-1920 commercial structures. Future use: The property has been approved by Shreveport City Council to be donated to Shreveport Common, Inc., a local arts- and community-based nonprofit redevelopment authority, for redevelopment. Reuse is planned as outdoor greenspace to compliment the adjacent park. Phase I revealed RECs from off-site uses.
