Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: Site formerly operated as a pipe yard. Site operations included cleaning, threading, and distributing drill pipe for oilfield use. EPA conducted a cleanup of the site for NORM in 2008 but the site still exceeds LDEQ standards. The company went defunct and the property was abandoned. The site is now going through the adjudication process due to unpaid taxes.

Planned Reuse: Acadiana Needs, a local faith-based nonprofit, would like to acquire the site for a safe house for women seeking to escape human trafficking and a treatment facility for people with addiction with a sober living home to help transition back to normal life. Redevelopment is contingent on being able to receive environmental clearance on the site for residential use. If the site isn't able to be cleaned to residential standards but could be cleared for commercial/ industrial use, LDEQ will work with the Parish to identify other potentially interested parties to redevelop the site.

June 2022 Phase I ESA: Identified known presence of lead in soil, a soil mound on the eastern portion of the site suspected to be bio-sludge, potential presence of ACM and LBP associated with structures onsite, and a solid waste pile on the southeastern corner of the site. Additional assessment was recommended to to investigate potential site impacts from the identified RECs, and specialized surveys and/or disposals were recommended for potential ACM and LBP and solid waste onsite.
