Additional Property Attributes

Site is currently a City of Eugene public park near a environmental injustice community. First available historical aerial photographs indicate a portion of the park was in agricultural use as an orchard by 1936. Much of the surrounding area also appears to be in agricultural use. A rail line is present in its current location along the western edge of the property. By 1944, a few adjacent residences are present east of the park, and early stages of a neighborhood are visible to west of the rail line. The park remains largely unchanged. Due to missing aerial coverage between the early 1950s and late 1970s little can be garnered concerning the park usage. By 1977, the park appears to be cleared and undeveloped. Industrial and commercial structures are visible west of the rail line. In 1994, the park is present

During fall of 2021, dioxin and furan compounds (dioxins) were identified in shallow soil collected from 0-6 inches on the eastern portion of Trainsong Park. Trainsong Park lies in a mixed-use area of West Eugene, with residential neighborhoods and industrial and commercial properties adjoining the park. Also, an active Burlington Northern railroad line runs along the park's western border. Due to the contamination found, Trainsong Park was partially closed by the City of Eugene on January 13, 2022.
