Additional Property Attributes

Based on a review of historical information, the site consisted of eight residences, a machining warehouse, and a railroad spur from at least the mid-1920s. By 1940, the site was occupied by the Maxwell Steel Company. After Maxwell Steel vacated the site, the site was occupied by Creamer Industries Steel from the late 1950s through mid-1960s, and Riverside Steel/Riverside Industries from the late 1960s through early 1970s. By the mid-1970s, Pressure Vessels Inc. (PVI) commenced operations on-site until PVI vacated the site in late 2019 and the has remained vacant to date. The historical PVI operations to manufacture water heaters (including historical chemical use, waste generation, spills, and an underground storage tank [UST]) constituted a REC to the site. However, the site was enrolled in the VCP and initial investigation indicated VOC and metal impacts to the soil and groundwater. The site remains in the investigation phase and additional assessment is needed to further evaluate the site for regulatory closure.
