Additional Property Attributes

The central portion of the subject property was developed prior to 1897 with an apartment building identified as Albemarle Flats and an associated outbuilding, while the remainder consisted of vacant land. An apartment building was constructed in the eastern portion in 1916/1917, a commercial building was constructed in the western portion in 1920, and an eight-family dwelling was constructed in the central portion between 1910 and 1925. A portion of the eastern apartment building was occupied by beauty shops between at least 1931 and 1951. No additional commercial occupants have been identified associated with the former residential buildings. The commercial building was utilized as a masonic temple from construction until at least 1964 and was utilized for professional office activities for the City of Detroit between at least 1967 until demolition in 1984. The Albemarle Flats building, eight-family dwelling, and outbuilding in the central portion were demolished in 1974 and the area was utilized as a parking lot in at least 1975. The apartment building in the eastern portion was demolished between 1997 and 1999. The property has consisted entirely of vacant land since at least 1999.
