Additional Property Attributes

Property was originally a grocery store in the early 1900s. In recent years it was a pizza shop and a bar. It has been vacant since 2008 when a fire destroyed a good portion of the structure. The city acquired the property in October 2019 via condemnation under nuisance and abatement. City is looking at obtaining funding to assist in assessing the property to determine if there are any contaminants that may prohibit redevelopment. ECIA funded a Phase I for the site in March of 2022. Findings of the Phase I recommended further testing to include an asbestos and lead based paint inspection. An asbestos and lead-based paint inspection was completed and asbestos was found to be above state standards requiring abatement. Possible redevelopment includes bakery and coffee shop.
