Additional Property Attributes

Based on available site information the site was undeveloped vegetated land until it was developed as a junk yard with general contracting business from 1952 until approximately 1988. After approximately 1988 the site was used for general contracting with leases to an undertaking operation and propane service and distribution business. The undertaking business stopped operating on the site in the early 2000s. Based on a review of aerial imagery, the site currently consists of four structures, a gravel lot, debris piles, and a wooded area. Previous investigations identified PAHs, PCE, PCBs, TPH, lead, and arsenic in soil above their respective MSSRS. Arsenic and PCE were found to exceed their respective NJDEP Class II-A GWQC. PCE and TPH were associated with a hot spot located beneath the garage while PAH, PCB, lead, and arsenic were associated with historical fill found across the site. Previous site investigations identified PAH, PCB, arsenic, and lead in soil and arsenic in groundwater, this contamination was reported to be associated with area-wide historical fill. Benzo(a)pyrene and lead were identified in samples taken from debris piles that were associated with the general contracting business. In the sampling location associated with the hydraulic lift, PCE, PCB, TPH, and lead were identified in the soil and PCE and LNAPL were identified in the groundwater. The hydraulic lift was located in the service bay of the garage and contamination was reported to be from vehicle maintenance and repairs associated with the general contracting business. Soil contamination associated with the hydraulic lift was reportedly horizontally and vertically delineated to approximately 40 cubic yards of soil under the garage and groundwater contamination was reportedly delineated laterally in the downgradient direction. Contamination associated with historical fill is present across the site and was identified as being associated with regional historical fill activities.
