Additional Property Attributes

The Property consists of four parcels occupying approximately 285 acres of land located south of Ecorse Road and north of Wick Road in Romulus, Michigan. The majority of the Property was formerly associated with two locally licensed dumps. The southwest portion of the Property was developed with a residence by 1905 with an unimproved road or trail, an extension of the current adjoining Ozaga Street, extending through the west-central portion of the Property. The remaining portions of the Property were vacant. By the 1930s, the southern portions of the Property were agricultural in use and the northern portion of the Property was wooded. County drain were observed on the southern portion of the Property and extended from west to the southeast. The wooded areas expanded over time through the time of this assessment. Landfill operations were observed on the eastern portion of the Property by 1957 and expanded through the 1960s. Apparent landfill grading and covering was observed by 1972. Environmental response activities were completed at the Property in the 1980s through 1997, including a geophysical assessment, two drum removal events in 1988-1989 and 1995-1996, and surface soil sampling. No known methane monitoring system or leachate collection system are known to have been installed at the Property. A land conservation easement with requirements for periodic inspections was filed for the western portion of the Property in 2012.
