Additional Property Attributes

Available historical documents list the property as a bulk oil plant in 1900, 1906, 1910, 1918, 1957, 1962, and 1968. Historical Sanborn maps depict the following on the property: an oil warehouse with pumps served by a railroad siding in 1900, 1906, and 1910; an oil warehouse with three tanks immediately northwest of the structure served by a railroad siding, a garage, and filling station with a 225-gallon tank in 1918; a grease and oil warehouse with three large tanks and a coal bin served by a railroad siding with a garage in 1962; and grease and oil warehouse with three large tanks and a coal bin served by a railroad siding and a garage in 1968. Historical documents also list the property as a welding supply shop in 1972, 1977, 1982, 1987, and 1992. The City acquired the abandoned property in 2014 following completion of a Phase I ESA using IDNR 128(a) funds. IDNR also paid for an asbestos survey prior to abatement and subsequent demolition in 2020.
