Additional Property Attributes

After consultation with the Montana Department of Environmental Quality Solid Waste Division, it was determined that test pits and drilling for soil samples could not occur in the closed Class III Landfill. The new owner is working with the MDEQ Recycling Division to find a workable solution for removing and recycling or reusing contents of the landfill. The owner would like to perform composite/low frequency testing of the materials removed to make sure they are clean. Contents of the landfill will be screened, ground and stockpiled or taken to the landfill. The owner may request brownfields assistance, if the desired testing is deemed an eligible activity. The goal is to get rid of all the material in the landfill. At this time, Missoula County has not committed to providing any brownfields assistance. That could change should funding become available and the desired testing is eligible.
