Additional Property Attributes

Blackman Charter Township approached Jackson County for support of the acquisition and demolition of the blighted site for redevelopment. The subject property consists of one legal parcel occupying approximately 6.38 acres. The subject property is developed with a 32,550-square-foot, vacant manufacturing building located in the southern portion of the parcel with the northern portions of the parcel vacant, undeveloped land. Prior to the construction of the subject building, the property was undeveloped farmland. The current footprint of the building is the result of multiple additions to the north completed to the initial structure built in the 1950s. The building was occupied by B&H Machine from the time of initial development until 2009 for the manufacturing activities in support of the automotive and aerospace industries. In support of acquisition and redevelopment, EPA assessment grant dollars were used to complete a Phase I ESA, hazardous materials inventory, Phase II ESA, and BEA for the Subject Property.
