Additional Property Attributes

The site, approximately 0.2-acre of cleared vacant land located at 129-131 Sala Avenue, Westwego, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. The site is not improved with any structures and does not support any occupants or operations. The concrete foundations from previous onsite structures are still present onsite.

Based on a review of earliest available historical documentation, the site appears to have been undeveloped from 1891 until the middle 1930's, when residential development occurs on site. From 1951 until 1989 the site is developed with commercial properties. By 1990 the structures are no longer on site, and the site has remained vacant since. The north adjoining property was undeveloped land from 1891 until the early 1930's. From 1932 to 1941, River Road, commercial development and a ferry landing are located north of the site. From 1951 through 1998 the ferry landing had been removed; commercial development remained until 1989. From 1990 through 1998 the north adjoining property was vacant. In 2000 a new ferry landing was constructed. From 1891 until 2020 the east adjoining property has been River Road followed by the Mississippi River. The south adjoining property was undeveloped land from 1891 until the early 1930's. From 1932 to 1937 the south adjoining was developed with residential properties then from 1937 until 2020 commercial properties are present. The west adjoining property appeared to be undeveloped land followed by a canal in 1891. By 1932 the west adjoining property was developed with residential and commercial properties and transitioned to its current use as commercial properties by 1969.
