Additional Property Attributes

The site has historically been an elementary school (1955-early 1990's), a church (2012), and a personal home (late 2012). It contains a one-story school building with a basement containing 5,984 square feet that is abandoned and stable but with lots of vandalism inside the building. The applicant would not obtain the property but would be working with the current owner on an economic development project. The current owner would like to develop a gated housing project that would include multi-family housing within the school and townhomes built on the property behind it.

There is a former underground storage tank (UST) and suspect fuel dispensing area that is a Recognized Environmental Condition due to a lack of information about the closure. During the site reconnaissance visit, potential asbestos-containing materials were observed within the building. Also, based on the age of the building lead-based paint was likely used in the building.
