Additional Property Attributes

The City of Jefferson City has requested an environmental site assessment for four parcels located at 711, 701, 605, and 601 Mulberry Street within the Historic Southside and Old Munichburg District. The City has identified the area for city park development and expansion of the Greenway Trail. A non-profit, Building Community Bridges, is interested in partnering with Urban Bean Counter to develop a community garden located at 605 and 601 Mulberry. Previous known uses for the parcels include multifamily and single-family residential. A deed restriction was placed on the parcels by the City of Jefferson City in 2014 to restrict use of the property to green space for the conservation of the natural flood plain. A former motor freight station containing a gasoline tank, located at the current parcel of 601 and the northern portion of 605 Mulberry Street, as well as a historical dry cleaning facility at 601 Mulberry Street were identified as RECs. To evaluate potential impacts from identified RECs, four borings were installed, and nine soil and three groundwater samples were collected. The samples where analyzed and the results were compared to Default Target Levels (DTLs) and background levels for Cole County. Note that the DTLs are the most conservative screening levels under the 2006 Missouri Risk-Based Corrective Action guidance document. The only compounds detected in surface and subsurface soil samples were lead, 2-butanone, and acetone. Only lead concentrations exceeded DTLs but were within background concentrations for Cole County. No compounds were detected in groundwater samples. No further investigations at this site is recommended.
