Additional Property Attributes

The site was the original Central Bank Building, built in approximately 1950, with a two story addition in the 1970's. Remodeling plans for use as a police department and new city hall are on hold until environmental contaminants and structural issues are addressed. Water leaks from the roof and brick wall integrity are also concerns. City budget currently has funding allocated for this project. A historic drycleaning facility to the southwest represents a REC and a VEC to the subject property. Asbestos-containing material is also present in the site building. No lead-based paint was found. Acetone was the only VOC contaminant detected in one surface sample but below the MRBCA DTL. Arsenic and lead were detected in all soil samples but were below the reported Johnson County concentration. Based on these results, the concentrations of chemicals in soil do not pose a risk to future use and/or redevelopment of the site. No groundwater was present during this assessment.
