Additional Property Attributes

The library was constructed by the Works Progress Administration project in 1939 and is an example of Pueblo Revival architectural . It is the former Clayton Public Library and has been used by the community as a club house and meeting hall but has been vacant since 1998. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and on the New Mexico State Register of Cultural Properties. The library is in the historic downtown area on a block that has received recent infrastructure upgrades such as new sidewalks and street lights. The Town owns the property and would like to see it preserved and utilized.
