Additional Property Attributes

The Site consists of one parcel of land totaling 0.48 acres that is improved with one main building totaling 3,600 square feet and an attached storage garage totaling 1,290 square feet. According to historical Sanborn Fire Insurance maps, the main building and garage were developed between 1911 and 1924. The remainder of the Site consists of paved parking areas and lightly vegetated areas along the northern border of the Site. The Site is currently owned by 36 Pleasant Street LLC and is used as storage space by the owner. The Site was initially developed sometime between 1911 and 1924 by Ansonia Foundry Co. and was used as a brass and aluminum foundry, to make cast moldings for the plastic industry in the early 1900s. The Site was then occupied by Kisluk Manufacturing Company from at least 1964 to 1972 and was occupied by Advanced Precision Casting Company (APC) from at least 1977 to 2019, when it was acquired by the current owner. Historical site operations under APC involved those associated with a foundry to create aluminum cast molds for the plastic industry. General site processes involved melting aluminum in gas furnaces which was then poured into sand forms. The heated liquid metal would be left in the mold to cool and harden, then finished using sand blasting. Wastes historically generated at the Site during foundry processes included casting sand and aluminum chips. Casting sand was stockpiled on-site then shipped off-site for landfill disposal, and aluminum chips were stored in drums and taken back by the supplier to be reclaimed.
