Additional Property Attributes

The 0.12-acre Subject Property consists of one parcel identified by the Herkimer County Tax Assessor as 120.25-2-24. The Subject Property includes one brick four-story, 17,292-square foot building with unfinished basement, built sometime between 1911 and 1923. A small paved area is located behind the Subject Property building. Water and sewer are available to the Subject Property building and are supplied by the municipality. Electricity and natural gas service provided by National Grid to the building were disconnected during site reconnaissance.
The Subject Property was unoccupied at the time of reconnaissance and appears to have been for some time. The Subject Property first floor consists of an unoccupied commercial storefront and the apartment lobby. The second, third, and fourth floors of the building are comprised of unoccupied apartments. The interiors of the second and third floor apartments on the North Main Street side of the building are significantly fire-damaged with blackened walls, floors, ceilings, and furniture visible.
The Subject Property was originally developed with several one-story buildings in 1884. The Subject Property historically operated as a barber shop, millinery, printing shop, tobacco shop, steam laundry, apron and gown seller, and most recently as a mattress store. The Subject Property has also operated as an apartment building since at least 1923 until approximately 2017.
