Additional Property Attributes

This site consists of a building dating to approximately 1907, and was formerly the location of the Summit City Creamery, which manufactured butter and cheese. The last known business to operate at the location was called "Aurora Discount Building Materials," from approximately 2000 to 2013. The building is currently vacant. The property owner has abandoned the building and the City of Aurora will be taking title.

The Phase I ESA identified likely asbestos-containing materials (ACM), suspect lead-based paint (LBP), and former dry cleaner and underground storage tank (UST) sites adjacent to the property. A Phase II will be completed. The City of Aurora wants to demolish the building and use the lot as green space.

The Phase II ESA identified benzene and 1,2,4-trimethylbenzen concentrations slightly above MRBCA DTLs in groundwater in one boring. Petroleum products were not found in groundwater above DTLS. No soil samples had any detections above the default target levels, but did have some detections of petroleum products. No additional asbestos-containing materials (ACM) were found beyond those identified in the previous survey. Lead-based paint (LBP) was confirmed in the building.
