Additional Property Attributes

Former International Paper (IP) facility was farmland prior to the purchase of the property in 1949, with intentions of developing the property into a hardwood dissolving pulp mill. The mill was constructed in 1951, and an expansion of the mill occurred in 1959. The mill was developed on the adjoining properties to the west and south, and on the subject property. The mill was an integrated pulp mill that consisted of standard operations from woodyards (subject property) to pulp dryers that produced rolled and baled product. The mill's product was bleached hardwood dissolving Kraft pulp and market-bleached pulp. Prior to closure, the mill included two woodyards (one being on the subject property), a pulp mill with 26 batch digesters and two brown stock washing lines, two chlorine dioxide bleach lines, and two pulp dryers. The subject property included the woodyard and railways associated with the mill operations. The mill ceased operations on July 17, 2003. The final closure of the former mill site (agreed orders included) was completed in 2009. The western portion of the subject property is currently not in use. The eastern portion of the subject property is currently used as a timber yard with a sawmill system.
