Additional Property Attributes

NeighborWorks Montana and the North Missoula Community Development Cooperation (NMCDC), both local nonprofits, partnered to support the residents of fourteen homes in Missoula's River Road Neighborhood in purchasing their homes as a limited equity housing cooperative. The property is made up of three parcels and includes homes of varying types including six duplex homes, one five-bedroom single family home, three two-bedroom single family homes, and four lots for mobile homes. All homes were built between 1950 and 1972. Properties directly north of the subject property include an active open pit gravel mine and heavy industrial activity. The NMCDC was awarded a $330,000 grant from the City of Missoula's Affordable Housing Trust Fund to help purchase the land. The purchase brought subsidy to the overall project cost, making collective ownership feasible for low-income residents, while also preventing resident displacement and ensuring the property's affordability for generations to come. An All Appropriate Inquiry provided NMCDC the confidence to move forward with the purchase and reuse of the property.
