Additional Property Attributes

This is a block of six commercial properties. The addresses are 904 Broadway, 906 Broadway, 908 Broadway, 100 E. 10th Street, 104 E. 10th Street and 106 E. 10th Street. The past uses include a tavern, video store, theater, grocery store, hotel, hardware store, bowling alley, restaurant, office, laundry, music store and printing shop. Lead-based paint and asbestos are suspected to be in the buildings. These properties are all connected and share a common courtyard. The properties are owned by the Lamar Community Betterment Organization who would like to redevelop the properties in order to serve and benefit the local community. A Phase II will be conducted to address RECs associated with possible lead-based paint, asbestos, and petroleum contamination from on and off-site sources. The Lamar Community Betterment Group plans to rehabilitate some of the buildings and demolish others. Planned future uses include a mix of office, commercial and retail uses, plus a bed and breakfast, green space, and an open air market. The Phase II Environmental Site Assessment indicated lead in the soil at levels exceeding the default target levels, but not above background levels, and confirmed the presence of asbestos-containing materials and lead-based paint inside the buildings.
