Additional Property Attributes

Property is listed by Vermont Parcel Viewer website as Parcel ID VW0065.X with a lot size of 1.70 acres and has the street address of 65 VT 17W in the Town of Addison, Addison County, Vermont. The Property is located at the central town village intersection of VT Route 17W and VT Route 22A. The Property is zoned Village Neighborhood Commercial District and the Town of Addison, Vermont is the current owner.
The Property contains the Town Clerk building, as well as the 150-year-old original Town Hall, which was built in 1872 to provide town meeting space and a schoolroom. The Town Hall was the center of cultural life for this rural, agricultural Vermont town for roughly 100 years. It retains much of its structural integrity and original details, including the belfry, seven-foot windows, wainscoting, large double front doors, and a performance stage on the second floor. The three-story building is essentially a shell, with no plumbing or heating and minimal electricity. The Town Hall has served as a town hall, school, town offices, and grange hall. As community needs changed, the interior was adapted, including the addition of the second-floor stage addition and partitions on the first floor. It has not been used as a school since the 1950s.
