Additional Property Attributes

The City of Austin Fleet Services Department is located on this COA-owned property in East Austin. Following City Council direction to evaluate all city properties for affordable housing development, once Fleet Services relocates.
Previous environmental assessments identified a historical LPST and chlorinated solvent plume, which were addressed through VCP 1464. The City completed Phase II activities investigating potential effects from these operations independently, using City funds. Due to the age of the buildings, asbestos and lead-based paint was suspected, and a building materials survey was completed using grant funds.
Austin City Council has directed staff to redevelop the site with primarily affordable housing, market rate housing, and mixed-use development; educational and child-care opportunities; food access and healthy food systems; cultural arts, small business, and employment sectors community gathering and flex spaces; and other community benefits as may be deemed appropriate.
The site is close to multiple key City assets, is adjacent to Boggy Creek Greenbelt and Rosewood Park, is one-quarter mile walk to Eastside Early College High School and ACC-Eastview, is one-third of a mile walk to Oak Springs Elementary and three-quarters of a mile walk to Kealing Middle School.
The regulated building materials survey identified asbestos and lead-based paint in the building, which will be addressed following City of Austin policies prior to demolition.
