Climate Adaption and Mitigation - Planning or Assessment

Selected Strategy(ies)Explanatory Text
Phase I and Phase II ESAs that consider impacts from extreme weather events and natural disastersPhase I ESAs may consider current and on-going impacts from extreme weather events and natural disasters and consider future impacts to the site or area. For example, an investigation of the site history can include an investigation of site vulnerabilities based on historical and recent extreme weather patterns and events (e.g., floods and drought). Phase II ESAs may include use of renewable energy, incorporating remote sensing capabilities, maximize reuse of existing wells (as appropriate) and/or design wells for future reuse, use of field test kits when possible, use of local laboratories when possible, and use of appropriate sized equipment for the project.

Additional Property Attributes

The Subject Property consists of three two-story, approximately 5,000 square feet (sq ft) buildings located
on an approximately 1.14-acre parcel within a larger 428.3-acre portion of the Mid-Delta Regional Airport
(Airport) owned by the City of Greenville, Mississippi. Only one of the buildings (Building 353) was
accessed during the site visit due to structural safety concerns (Building 355) and residential occupancy
(Building 354). The buildings appeared to have the same construction which included a wooden
frame on a cinder block foundation with a shingle roof and fiber-board siding.
Building 353 was currently unused and in poor conditions in some locations throughout this building.
Accessible rooms observed in Building 353 included a main room; kitchen; restroom; a heating,
ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) room; and offices and/or bedrooms on the first floor, and
bedrooms and a restroom on the second floor. Interior finishes appeared to consist of floor tiles, ceiling
tiles, and drywall wall sheeting in Building 353. There is a shed adjacent to the eastern side of Building
353.
Building 355 was also unused and from open doorways structural damage was observed to both the
flooring and ceiling structural supports. From open doorways, Building 354 was observed to contain a
main room/rooms, and a HVAC room on the first floor. Interior finishes appeared to consist of floor tiles,
ceiling tiles, and drywall wall sheeting. Additional features of Building 354 could not be safely inspected.
Portions of Building 355 were also obscured by heavy vegetation.
Building 354 differed from the other two buildings as it had exterior doors and stairways to access the
doorways. The site contacts indicated that the rooms in Building 355 were used for residential purposes.
The area immediately surrounding the Subject Property building is vegetated, ranging from grass
maintained by cutting to unmaintained weeds, shrubs, and trees.
