Additional Property Attributes

The Anita F. Coy Site is in east Austin and has served students since the 1950s. The site serves as Austin ISD's Alternative Learning Center and houses administrative buildings. The existing school building will be demolished, and the site will be redeveloped with workforce and affordable housing as well as other community benefits. This project is located in census tract 48453002111 that is considered disadvantaged in the EPA's Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool.
Austin ISD is partnering with an experienced housing development partner to construct high quality housing that is affordable for new and experienced teachers, district staff and families to support both attraction/retention of culturally proficient professionals and enrollment growth. The project includes 519 affordable rental units, an early learning center serving approximately 100 infants through Pre-K students. Approximately 8.5 acres will be preserved for greenspace with outdoor amenities. A modernized Alternative Learning Center facility will be constructed that supports state of the art instruction, while addressing cultural identities and safety and to better serve students.
The site is centrally located and has good access to public transportation as well as connectivity to several bike paths. The project expects to receive a 3-star minimum rating with Austin Energy Green Building and will seek a National Green Building Standard (NGBS) certification.
The Phase I ESA identified RECs related to 2 off-site unconfirmed 'ghost tanks'. Any additional investigation will not use grant funds.
