Additional Property Attributes

This site originally served as the town's post office. In recent years it has been a Masonic Lodge. The city plans to acquire the property, demolish the building, and turn the site into a parking lot. A Phase I is needed for the city to apply for a loan through the Mo-Kan Regional Council.

No RECs were identified with the historic operations of the site itself. Two offsite RECs were found: a former gas station located adjacent to the southeast of the site, and a former garage with two gas tanks located upgradient at 202 Main (now known as 302). An aboveground storage tank (AST) located on the second floor of the site building, while not a REC, represents a Business Environmental Risk (BER). Based on the historical operations of the gas station and auto garage, each containing gas tanks, and lacking information on any possible release from those tanks, a subsurface investigation is recommended to determine if there is any petroleum impact to the site soil and groundwater. To eliminate the BER, the AST on the second floor of the building should be decommissioned by a qualified professional and all materials disposed of in accordance with applicable regulations.
