Additional Property Attributes

An application was submitted by the Capitol City Development Corporation, and the results were shared with Hale Development. Hale discussed liability protections and VCP with the Grantee. The property will be redeveloped as parking for CCDC and retail space. When CCDC builds its own parking in this area, the former CCDC parking will be developed into residential housing. This property has been a blight for over a decade. (PPF - American Linen, 1/25/07)

Former Use: The property has three contiguous buildings with separate operations ranging from commercial to light industry. The American Linen facility was used as a linen supply operation involving commercial laundry with conventional detergents. No commercial dry cleaning was performed, but occasionally tetrachloraethylene (perc or PCE) was used to clean heavily soiled garments. A vehicle maintenance shed for linen supply vehicles was located to the northeast across the alley near 14th Street. Two USTs were near this shed and were used for fueling vehicles. The USTs were removed in the mid-1980s. The farm store was used at one time as a furrier, employing the use of stoddard solvents which were stored in USTs to the northeast of the building in a cut-out area adjacent to the alley. A heating oil UST in this same area was used to store oil for heating the building.
