Property Highlights

The Site is a former junkyard/recycling facility (Frankenstein's). The City of Worcester took the property through tax title in June 2018. Summer 2024, EPA and MassDEP conducted a joint inspection of the property in preparation of a Targeted Brownfield Assessment to be conducted by the Brownfield Group of US EPA Region 1. During the inspection, MassDEP identified over 60 unsecured 55-gallon drums and other containers (5-gal pails, plastic tubs, an AST) containing unknown liquids. MassDEP used a state-funded ER contractor to remove the most timely threats and the City erected fencing to secure the Site. MassDEP is performing source removal to facilitate the EPA's TBA.
