Additional Property Attributes

According to the March 1999 Asbestos Survey of Aboveground Facilities U.S. Air Force Plant No. 3 Tulsa, OK Executive Summary: "...Air Force Plant No. 3 (AFP-3) ...is located on approximately 332 acres of land immediately east of the Tulsa International Airport and contains a total of 92 buildings/superstructures, of which 89 buildings/superstructures were surveyed..." One of the buildings surveyed for asbestos was Building 7. "...The facility was constructed in early 1942 for the production/repair of aircraft during World War II and remained in use until 1994 when aircraft repair/production operations ceased... Over approximately 52 years of facility operation, newer buildings were constructed, other buildings were demolished or de-activated and facility operations were modified and/or completely changed... Portions of the facility were de-activated, but some of these de-activated buildings have recently been re-activated..." According to the Summary within the Executive Summary: "...Regulated Asbestos Containing Material was identified within 20,430 linear feet of pipe insulation, 3,520 counts of joint insulation and 66,390 square feet vessel jackets..." inside of AFP-3 Building 7. According to the Statement of Interest for Brownfields Subgrant form that was submitted to DEQ: "...Building 7 is a 29,750 square foot building with a 50 foot clear height that was originally developed as a bomber manufacturing plant... The property was eventually deeded to the City of Tulsa... Asbestos insulation is found within the building in piping and building insulation as well as insulation in and around large boilers within the building... The City of Tulsa is looking to abate Building 7 of the asbestos containing materials to allow more space to be modernized and restored to useful production... The City has an adjacent tenant which is interested in leasing the space once it is abated of asbestos..."
