Additional Property Attributes

The subject property was shown in historical records as undeveloped in the 1929 Fire
Insurance Map, with a building, and agricultural fields, with cleared and wooded land
shown on the 1953 aerial photograph. The property was transferred from the Alabama
Great Southern Railroad Company to the City of Picayune in 1977. The Police Department
is first shown in the 1985 aerial photograph and topographic map. The occupant of the
subject property was reported to be the Picayune Police Department.
ERIS database records list the subject property as a UST site (Facility ID: 3508). The name
of the facility is listed as Jack's Cabinet. The address was listed as South Main in
Picayune, so the street number is not specified in the records. The last date the USTs were
used was January 1, 1984. A review of the MDEQ records listed South Mississippi
Distributing Co., Inc. as the UST owner. On August 13, 1992, South Mississippi
Distributing Co., Inc. informed MDEQ that they did not own the USTs at Jack's Cabinet,
and the site is now used as a used car sales business. The MDEQ Notification of
Underground Storage Tanks form listed the tank status as permanently out of use in 1981.
The subject property was purchased by the City of Picayune in 1977, and the police
department was built in 1978. Based on these dates, Jack's Cabinet could not have been
located at the Picayune Police Department property since the Police Department was built
before the USTs were taken out of use. The location of Jack's Cabinet in ERIS is incorrect.
Therefore, the subject property is not a UST site.

The subject property is a 2.90-acre parcel of land and currently used as a police station.
The subject property has been used as a criminal justice center, a police department, a jail,
and a training facility since July 12, 1977. The parking lot is located to the east and north
of the police station. The property is grass around the police station. There are two metal
sheds to the south and west of the police station.
