Additional Property Attributes

The 0.321-acre property in Bridgeport, Ohio, includes a 2,131-square-foot building historically used as an automobile service station. Before the construction of the service station in 1967, the property was occupied by a residence from the late 1800s. The site operated as a filling station from 1967 to 2014, when the operations ceased, and has been abandoned since. Fuel dispensers and underground storage tanks (USTs) remain in place.

Four USTs are registered with BUSTR and must be permanently closed per applicable regulations. Soil and shallow groundwater tests show petroleum contamination above BUSTR Closure Action and Groundwater Ingestion Action Levels, indicating a petroleum release likely occurred during former operations. A BUSTR Request Form for a Class Code Determination should be submitted to identify a Responsible Party for further corrective actions.

Additionally, petroleum constituents were detected near drums and aboveground storage tanks (ASTs) on the south side of the building. Further assessment is recommended to determine if the contamination originated from surface spills or the UST system. The drums should be removed and disposed of properly.
