Additional Property Attributes

The approximately 13.84-acre subject property is comprised of one parcel, Map 4, Lot 037-1 and consists of a Town-owned public park and recreational area that contains a basketball court, two ball fields (for softball, baseball, and/or soccer), playground equipment, horseshoe pits, a 448 square-foot building utilized for recreational activities, access to ATV/snowmobile trails, and wooded land. The subject property is currently owned and operated by the Town of Brownville as a public park area. According to available aerial photographs, the subject property was initially developed to include a baseball field circa 1982 with a second baseball field constructed circa 1992. The 448 square-foot recreation building on the northwestern corner of the subject property was built in 1995.
The subject property was historically operated as a solid waste dumping site prior to being owned by the Town. According to available correspondence between the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (MEDEP) and the Town of Brownville from 1969 to 1976, the solid waste dump (landfill) ceased operations between 1971 and 1973. In 1984, the town of Brownville acquired a portion of the subject property from Virginia S. Davis and in 1989 acquired the remainder of the subject property from Gerald and Mary MacLean. The subject property has been owned by the Town of Brownville through present (Jan'25).
Potential future uses include continued park use and installation of a boat launch and trailhead access/upgrades.
