Additional Property Attributes

These parcels are undeveloped tracts of land in the Talawanda Heights addition of McAlester, which historically held the minimum security unit for the Oklahoma State Penitentiary located across the street. Although this site is not a historic fueling station or oil and gas exploration and production site, the property is located within 500 meters of a historic UST. This radius requirement makes it satisfy the OCC's petroleum eligibility requirements.

The owner is currently working on a five-townhome project in McAlester, Oklahoma, which has been approved by Oklahoma Housing Finance Authority (OHFA). Their project is an important initiative for providing affordable housing in the area and ensuring compliance with environmental standards is a key step in moving forward. The project will be developed in partnership with Jamie R. Wright, LLC, Naturecraft Houses, LLC and The House Factory of Oklahoma City. The estimated economic benefit to the community of developing 5 townhomes is providing safe and attainable housing for families in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma. 2 part-time permanent positions will be created through the supportive services offered to the population of people who will be living in the 5 townhomes.

This site received a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment in 2025 and was found to have no RECs. The applicant held a ground-breaking ceremony on April 25, 2025.
