Climate Adaption and Mitigation - Redevelopment

Install green infrastructureGreen infrastructure includes practices and features to reduce the burden of storm events on local water infrastructure. Examples include green roofs, downspout disconnection, urban tree canopies, rainwater harvesting, rain gardens, planter boxes, green parking (permeable pavement), urban agriculture, and community open space.
Incorporate renewable energy developmentRenewable energy development may include solar, wind, geothermal and combined heat and power (CHP).

Additional Property Attributes

Past uses included various small commercial and industrial businesses as well as residential. Redevelopment project will create a mixed-use development pairing quality mix-income multifamily housing with a creative industry incubator. 60 housing units will be constructed with 48 being restricted to 30-60% AMI bracket with 12 market rate units. Bronzeville Apartments will include a number of Energy Efficiency and Sustainability features, including meeting the Enterprise 2020 Green Communities Criteria. Additionally, the project will include solar panel electric generation capacity. Bronzeville Apartments will also include a Community Service Facility. The Community Service Facility will be housed and operated by Beyond STEM Inc. Beyond STEM was founded with the mission to ?ensure the next generation of technology creators matches its consumers.? The organization provides high-quality, accessible, engineering, and tech-forward STEM and Arts programming for students across Milwaukee, empowering students from underrepresented backgrounds to pursue careers in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). These programs will be either free or affordable (utilizing a sliding pay scale) for individuals at the 60% AMI income level and below.
