Additional Property Attributes

The site was originally a Paper Manufacturing Company from approx. 1892 through 1954, where the mill was used to make paper. In 1954 it was acquired by Bonded Fibers, which then converted the use to shoe fiber manufacturing. The sites history included a machine shop, chipper building, soda ash storage, blacksmith shop, boiler house, finishing room, bleach room/house, laboratories, offices, etc.
Part of the site also served as a former Chesapeake & Ohio rail line, which is no longer active. Additionally, the building includes a canal lock that passes under a section of the building and is connected to MooMaws Dam, which is separately owner and serves as an active hydroelectric dam.
