Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: Former Gas Station. A former railroad depot building was moved from nearby property for use at the subject location as gas station office and small store at an unknown date. The property was used as gas station until mid-1970s. The station had two, 1000 gallon gasoline underground storage tanks (USTs) and two gasoline pumps. The USTs were removed by the current owner in 1993. PID levels 1 to 1,200 ppm. A site assessment was performed the day after the tanks were excavated and removed from the property. Photoionization detector readings taken from the excavated soil, UST excavation and pipe field island, where a broken pipe coupling was identified as the source of a past release. Soil from the excavation was taken offsite and the pipes and gasoline pumps were also removed. Tighe & Bond completed a subsurface investigation at the property in June 2007. That investigation identified arsenic levels in soil above PRGs but at concentrations that are consistent with local background conditions. Antimony was detected in groundwater at levels below VT enforcement standards. Petroleum contamination in soil and groundwater at levels that would constitute concern was not identified. The burned gasoline station building is present onsite, as well as a large metal storage container. Reportedly, the container contains farm and maintenance equipment, however, the equipment is not powered by fuel and the container does not contain any petroleum products. The burned building and container are located on the southern portion of the property. The rest of the property is covered with grass with wet low-lying areas. (PPF, 9/19/07)
