Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The subject property was owned by the Chicago Lumbering Company of Michigan from at least 1872 until 1911 when it was sold to the White Marble Lime Company. The White Marble Lime Company operated a limestone quarry on the southern adjoining property until at least 1924 when Manistique Lime & Stone Quarry purchased the subject property. Joseph Heinz purchased the subject property from the Inland Lime & Stone Company in 1937. The subject property was utilized as a pipeline holding area for Lakehead Pipeline Company from at least 1937 until 1991 when the subject property went into tax reversion and Schoolcraft County became owner of the subject property. Lakehead Pipeline Company utilized the subject property as their office headquarters for their maintenance division. The office building was formerly located within what is now the Harbor Enterprises building on the western adjoining property. A former radio tower was located on the central portion of the subject property in the 1960s and 1970s. This structure has since been razed. The subject property has remained vacant since at least 1991. Two recreational snowmobile trails are currently located on the subject property.
