Additional Property Attributes

The City of Iron Mountain is actively seeking a developer to build on this prime land in the middle of Iron Mountains north side. In aid of that effort, DCBRA has conducted a Phase I, Phase II and BEA Environmental Site Assessment All Appropriate Inquiries. The owner has since removed the structures from the site. The TIFA will have no significant use or storage of hazardous substances at the Subject Property. Hence, no significant hazardous substance use or storage at the Subject Property by TIFA will serve as the means of distinguishing old releases of hazardous substances from new releases of hazardous substances on the Subject Property.

Former Use: The site was a large manufacturing, storage and shipping facility covering part or all of six blocks on the north side of Iron Mountain. The manufacturing moved out of town and the City of Iron mountain is trying to redevelop the site. The site is located on North Stevenson Avenue, in a mixed commercial- residential area, with the former Lake Antoine Railroad Yard to the west. Wood manufacturing at the site began in the 1940s and expanded. The Khoury brothers bought out the plant and began manufacturing furniture in the 1940s. Both pre assembled and ready-to-assemble furniture has been manufactured on site.
