Additional Property Attributes

The City has selected this property and the surrounding properties as the most suitable location for the site of two new middle schools that the city plans to construct to replace its outdated and overpopulated existing middle school. The new schools are scheduled to open in January 2010.

Former Use: By 1911, the Lafayette Worsted Co. was operating textile operations at this and surrounding industrial properties. These operations included a structure on the property used for storage of wool waste. By 1922 the original building, as well as several other small structures, were demolished and a large brick mill building and three small office buildings were constructed or under construction. By 1950, this property was operated by the Argonne Worsted Company for combing and carding operations. By 1965, the property was operated by the Ariller Electric Co., and then the Miller Electric Co. by 1967. The property was most recently owned by Primary Properties, Inc. Recent occupants included the Procaccianti Group, which used the facility for storage of hotel furniture and Cool Air Creations, a screen-printing company. The property was vacated in the fall of 2008.
