Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The subject property consisted of undeveloped, lightly vegetated land from at least 1938 until 1940 when the existing subject building was constructed. The original subject building was operated as a gasoline filling station from its construction in 1940 through 1973 when gasoline operations were abandoned. In addition to gasoline sales, the subject building also contained one automobile repair bay on the northern portion of the building during that same period (1940-1973). The southern portion of the subject building was utilized as a small convenience store and gasoline sales counter during that time. One dispense island with two gasoline pumps was present to the south of the subject building, which was accessible from Broadway and East US-10 Highway. A gravel drive formerly extended from Broadway to the automobile repair bay. After 1973, the subject property was sold and utilized as an Elks Lodge meeting hall until the early 1980s when the building was vacated. Lake County took possession of the subject property in April 2002 through tax reversion. In November 2002, the subject property was purchased by Ms. Shovon Burgin, the current owner of the property. In July 2004, one 1,000- gallon gasoline UST was removed from the southern side of the subject building along with the dispenser island, two gasoline pumps, and all associated piping. In addition, three USTs formerly associated with the gasoline station (two 1,000-gallon gasoline, and one 275-gallon fuel oil) were removed from the eastern property boundary (Broadway Street right-of-way) in July 2004.
