Additional Property Attributes

This small parcel is located in the village center of West Warren, a section within the town of Warren, MA. The small parcel is elevated approximately 30 feet or more from adjacent CSX railroad line located just to the south of the property. Just south of the railroad line is the Quaboag River. Given the geography of the site and its small size, it appears that if there is or was any contamination it may have migrated away from the site toward the active railroad. Given the location and proximity within the village center, it would seem that private development is a possible scenario in the future. At this time, the property owner has not allowed access to the site to conduct further investigation. It is unlike CSX Railroad would allow access to their site. No more information is likely through this EPA Hazardous Materials Assessment grant.

Former Use: The site is located within a residential and business area of West Warren. It is currently vacant and is the location of a former service station. The rear of the site slopes steeply down to the a railroad track and the Quaboag River. There are currently no buildings on the site, however, remanants of a building foundation are evident including the presence of a hydraulic lift. According to the current owner two fires had historically occurred at the site. The current condition of the soil and groundwater are unknown.
