Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: The first developed use of the subject property could not be determined, although the subject property has been developed since at least 1884 when it was utilized to store cords of wood, which remained the use of the property through at least the early 1890s. From the early 1890s until approximately 1913 the subject property remained vacant. In 1913, the Carnegie Library was constructed on two vacant city lots that were donated by the Cheboygan Telephone Company. The building served as the Cheboygan Library until May 1969, when a new library was built and the Carnegie building was converted to office use. From August 1969 until the summer of 1971, the building served as Cheboygan�s first historical museum, and has otherwise been used as offices or has been vacant since 1969. At the time the site reconnaissance activities were completed on December 4, 2007, the building was vacant.
