Additional Property Attributes

Former Use: Description: Currently the property is vacant and undeveloped. The slabs and foundations are in poor condition, generally cracked, and overgrown with vegetation. The piers and docks that remain on the property are decrepit and unusable. Parts of the property are paved, but the pavement is largely overgrown, cracked and broken. No evidence of USTs, ASTs remaining at the property. The following 5 RECs were identified for the property: 1. The former presence of oils and hazardous materials used in machine shops, boiler works, sawmills, a putty factory, a print factory, painting buildings and blacksmith buildings all formerly located on the property. 2.Former storage and use of petroleum on the property. 3. The potential presence of asbestos containing material (floor tile) within the building foundation materials remaining on the property; 4. A sump or former location of an oil/water separator in a concrete foundation; and 5. Stained soil adjacent to railroad ties and piles. History: 1888 - "East Boston Dry Dock Company"; "George McQuesten Lumber Yard"; and Numerous Sheds, timber and lumber piles, boat building shop, locksmith, paint shops, wagon shop, tin shop, bowling alley and pool room all occupied the property. 1900 - Various sheds, coal and lumber sheds, machine shop and lumber yard; "C.W. York Kindling Wood Factory"; and "Bennett and Lacey Carriage Factory" occupied different portions of the poroperty. 1927 - "Burton Furber Coal Co."; "Federal Lumber Co."; and a putty factory and print facility occupied different portions of the poroperty. 1950 - "United Stevedoring Company of New England" (loading and unloading of ships) 1989 to present - Vacant 11/14/1977 - City of Boston forecloses on parcel 0105412003 03/22/1978 - City of Boston forecloses on parcels 0105413000 and 0105414000
