Additional Property Attributes

A Phase I was completed and a Phase II was initiated under BF-97180301-0. A Supplemental Phase II will be completed under 2B-9611001-1.

Former Use: The Site had a variety of historical uses dating back to at least 1884, at which time the Site was occupied by a wool manufacturing facility. The property to the east of the Site across the Housatonic River (the 50 East Mill Street property) contained the main portion of the wool manufacturing facility and was connected to the Site via a covered bridge, and in later years appeared to be used for storage of various materials into junk auto parts and scrap metal. The mill operation ceased sometime before the 1930s and the Site was used as auto storage. More recently, the Site had been used for auto storage, parking, and the wholesale of various food items. The last known tenant was J&R Auto Body. The Site is currently vacant with no above-ground structures, and has been vacant since 2002 when the building was demolished.
