Additional Property Attributes

The property is a 0.15 acre tract of land that has been improved with a 26,000 square feet four-story brick structure. The building has not been maintained during its vacancy and is in disrepair. Water damage within the building is extensive. The water damage has apparently contributed to the presence of mold throughout the building. Potential asbestos, lead-based paint, and mold exist as well as pigeon feces. TCEQ records indicating nearby 1 Tank facilities constitute a RFC to the site. A records review indicated that during the 1930s, two clothes-cleaning facilities operated in the vicinity of the property. During the 1940-1980 periods Sears Roebuck & Co. operated a gasoline/service station on an adjoining property north of the property. Due to the type of operations performed at these former facilities and their proximity to the property, these findings constitute potential RFC's.

Former Use: Reconstructed after a fire in 1933. Operated as S.H. Kress & Co. department store until the 1970s.
