Additional Property Attributes

This property was studied as part of an area-wide Phase I for the West End of West Capitol Ave, an area of historical industrial use that is targeted for redevelopment. The city has completed several Phase Is in this area to provide information to prospective developers along with the current property owners. (PPF, 1/28/2008)

Former Use: The site was developed some time between 1954-1959. Portions of the site reportedly received fill material in the early 1950s. Previous uses of the property include: a general contractor, commercial office space, and a construction company. Current uses are mixed industrial uses, including the Western Truck School, a truck driving training facility; Ryder Truck Sales (a commercial dealer of used trucks, tractors, and trailers; and Throne Equipment, a now vacant spot that was formerly used as a commercial enterprise for heavy equipment and machinery sales. The former Throne Equipment portion of he property may be impacted by contaminated fill materials as well as equipment parts and other debris left behind by the Throne Equipment operation. Five underground storage tanks, piping, and dispensers were removed from the property in 1988 and 1995.
