Additional Property Attributes

The project property will be developed as part of a larger construction covering over 60-acres. The BRLF project is a portion of a planned retail and entertainment development. On the project site, JRSMI, LLC will construct 178,210 square feet of retail space for Menards and Aldi. The Menards store will create 100 new jobs and 6 new jobs will be created at the Aldi store. The project will result in development costs over 18 Million. The project will also compliment the City of Sanduskys efforts to revitalize the area with new roadway improvements and new access routes to Cedar Point and shoreline amenities.

Former Use: Prior to the late 1950s the property was used for agricultural purposes and residential dwellings. According to aerial photographs provided in the Phase I assessment report the Bechtel-McLaughlin Inc. BMI facility was constructed between 1950 and 1956. The facility was operational until 2005. During that time BMI, underwent building expansions, wastewater treatment system upgrades, and changes in plating processes. Historical plating operations included the use of chromium, nickel and cadmium and most recently zinc. As part of the plating operations Volatile Organic Compounds VOCs were used as solvents to clean metal parts. The property is currently vacant and most of the former facility components were previously removed.
