Property Highlights

Former Use: The site is located at the northwest intersection of Maple Street and Thompson Avenue, in Fort Wayne, Allen County, Indiana. The site presently consists of vacant land. The site was historically used as a housing facility by the ARC Easter Seals of North America. The site was purchased by the City of Fort Wayne in 2006, and site demolition was initiated in 2007. A buried fuel oil storage tank was encountered during demoltion activities. Soil and groundwater samples collected from the tank area exhibited elevated petroleum concentrations. Additional investigation was conducted between July and September 2007 and consisted of the installation of eleven soil borings and three monitor wells. Petroleum as TPH was detected in soil and groundwater samples collected at several locations at concentrations exceeding IDEM RISC residential default closure levels. Petroleum as TPH detected in soil at two locations also exceeded IDEM RISC industrial default closure levels.
